"Susan Niessen closely follows the plot of the original story. Despite the fact that this is an abridged and simplified version, it also tries to stay true to Kipling's style of writing. Many of the delightful sentences turn out to be a precise translation of the original. Still, it has been customized to accomodate the modern language used by today's children. The result is entirely convincing."
